Our Story

The idea for Rockhopper Brewery started back in 2020, when Luke began brewing beer at home. After one too many tasting sessions, we realised something: it was good!

So good, in fact, that we knew we had to share it with the people of North Devon, and bring the kind of vibrant craft beer scene you’d normally only find in city taprooms.

From 3 taps to 15

We opened our doors in June 2026 with just three beers on tap and a lot of hope. Thanks to you, the flock has grown fast. We now pour from 15 taps: six beers brewed right here on site, alongside a rotating line-up of guest brews from across the South West, plus cider, wine, alcohol-free beer on draught and soft drinks. Great company deserves great choice.

A place to catch up

For us, Rockhopper has always been about more than the beer. It’s about the bit that happens around it: friends meeting after work, families catching up at the weekend, new faces ending up at the same table and leaving as mates. We wanted to create somewhere relaxed and sociable where you can pull up a stool, put your phone down and enjoy a fresh pint with your people. No pretension, no fuss, just good beer and good company.

And when hunger strikes, Biffen’s Kitchen has you covered with surf-inspired street food every Friday and Saturday.

Tell us what’s missing

We’re still a young brewery, and we want to grow with our community. Is there a beer style you’d love to see on tap? An event you wish North Devon had, like a quiz, live music, a run club or a tasting night? Something missing from the area that we could help bring? Tell us at the bar, drop us a message, or slide into our DMs. Some of our best ideas have come from our customers.

In June, Chris and Ella joined the flock. They’re the ones pouring your pints, remembering your usual and keeping the good vibes flowing all weekend. Come and say hello. They’ll happily talk you through the taps and help you find your favourite bird.
